Adult Training

Team Members

All members new to Scouting must complete the Growing Roots training which has 6 online learning modules and a First Response first Aid course. To access online learning, go to https://learn.scouts.org.uk/.

The 6 modules are: Who we are and what we do, GDPR, Creating inclusion, Delivering a great program, Safety and Safeguarding which have to be renewed every 3 years.

Team Leaders

In addition to the above team Leaders also need to complete “Leading Scout Volunteers”.

Trustees

New trustees need to complete the Growing Roots training, switching the Program module for Being a Trustee in Scouts.

Wood badge

Team Leaders and Members wishing to complete the full “wood badge” training must complete the Branching out modules. Some are available online. For others you must attend in-person. For in-person training, see Berkshire scouts training diary.

First Aid

ALL Team Leaders and Members are required to have a First Aid Certificate..

There are 2 ways available for you to obtain this.

A full day First Aid course (Face to Face)- These courses will be advertised either via the Local Training Manager in an email to Maidenhead leaders OR bookable via Berkshire scouts training diary.

Online route, 2 modules online and a 30 minute practical – https://www.berkshirescouts.org.uk/first-response-training/

If you have a valid certificate obtained through a place of work or another organisations, these are no longer automatically accepted by Scouts. However you can provide a syllabus to a County first Aid trainer to check if it covers everything; you MAY still need to do a conversion course and a 30minute practical.

Extra Training

Additional courses for activity permits and other subjects can be booked via Berkshire scouts training diary.
