Explorers
“To anyone who hasn’t tried Scouting before, I’d say come on up and have a go! I think that most people don’t really know that Scouting is about activities, friendship and meeting people from other countries. I’ve been in the Movement since I was a Beaver and I still love it!”

About Explorers
Explorer Scouts are male or female, between the age of 14 and 18 years, although if you are already a Scout you can join between 13½ and 14½ years, with agreement from your Scout Leader. You do not have to have ever been a Beaver, Cub or Scout to join.
Which Unit Do You Belong With?
In Maidenhead we have 6 Explorer Units:
- Dragons
- Scorpions @ Boyne Hill Altwood
- Maggots @ Summerleaze
- Vikings @ Cox Green
- Cookham
- Dire Wolves
Dire Wolves are our Young Leaders Unit, for Explorers who help as Young Leaders at other Section meetings.
Each Unit have their own programmes. As an Explorer Scout you can go along to any Unit (Young Leader Unit only if you are a Young Leader) and take part in their activities. There are also events organised by the District and County.
