Role Specific Training

New members to Scouting must complete some training depending on which role they are starting.

Leaders and Section Assistants

Adults starting a section leader or section assistant role in Scouting need to do the Getting Started for Leaders and Section Assistants training.

Trustees

New trustees need to do the Getting Started for Exec Members and Trustees training.

Additional Mandatory Training

All leaders, section assistants, exec members and trustees must complete the three modules listed below in addition to their role specific training requirements.

GDPR Awareness Training

All members should have an awareness of how to handle personal data correctly in accordance with GDPR. The training can be found here GDPR Training.

Safety

For safety training complete the course here and email the PDF certificate to your GSL or the Appointments Secretary.

Check your Compass record to see if yours has expired. If it has, complete the course above and send the PDF certificate to your Group Scout Leader or training adviser.

Safeguarding Awareness

Safeguarding awareness is part of getting started but also needs to be renewed periodically. Complete your training here and email the PDF certificate to your GSL or the Appointments Secretary.

First Aid

A valid First Aid certificate is mandatory for all Leaders.  It is optional, but encouraged, for Section Assistants, instructors and other roles.

There are 2 ways available to you to obtain this.

A full day First Aid course (Face to Face)- These courses will be advertised either via the Local Training Manager in an email to Maidenhead leaders OR bookable via Berkshire County Web site https://apps.berkshirescouts.org.uk/content/diary2/#/

Online route, 2 modules online and a 30 minute practical – https://www.berkshirescouts.org.uk/first-response-training/

If you have a valid certificate obtained through a place of work or another organisations Scouts WILL accept this on production of your First Aid Certificate.

Wood Badge
